Origin and History
The Saudi Ophthalmology Society was established pursuant to an order from the President of King Saud University on 2 Muharram 1406 AH corresponding to September 26, 1985 AD. The first scientific meeting of the association was held at King Khalid Eye Specialty Hospital in Riyadh. In conjunction with the Third Annual Symposium on 21 Jumada I 1406 AH corresponding to January 30, 1986 AD. Since its inception. As the first Saudi medical association.
